Artist Manager Jerry Bentley Passes

Jerry Bentley with Lee Greenwood

Jerry Bentley, the former manager of Lee Greenwood, died at his home just outside Huntsville, Alabama on Sunday August 28. He was 80 years old.

Bentley served as a Marine and was wounded in Vietnam in 1967. He spent 15 years with GTE before joining the Greenwood team in 1984, becoming his closest friend and most trusted advisor for 45 years. Over the years, he has worked with many of Nashville’s best, even winning an IEBA (International Entertainment Buyer’s Association) award. In recent years, he had retired to spend more time with his wife Elaine, his daughters Beth and Laurie, and his grandchildren, whom he cherished.

“One of the finest southern gentlemen and patriotic Americans has entered his heavenly home, my manager and good friend of 45 years, Jerry Bentley,” Lee Greenwood said in a statement. “Kim, Parker, Dalton, Sarah and our entire LG Inc family over the years raise the Bentley family in our prayers. Our admiration and love for you all is endless. Thank you for everything you have brought to our family.

Visitation for Jerry Bentley was held yesterday (August 30) at the Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, Alabama. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today (August 31) at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville. Burial will take place in Mount Sion Cemetery.
