Berklee Latino brings musical talent from around the world

In 2014, the Berklee College of Music officially launched Berklee Latin America to increase the education, recognition, reputation, and cultural impact of Latin music around the world. Internationally renowned musicians travel to Boston from all over the world and perform with a group of carefully selected musicians from the school. It’s part of the university’s Latin program, led by four-time Grammy winner Oscar Stagnaro. “It’s interesting when I moved to Boston. I was playing country western music at my first gig, ”he said. Peruvian bassist Stagnaro eventually returned to his musical roots and his class to teach. He joined the faculty in 1987 and expanded the school’s Latin music program.
