Biden learned to equate PPP loans with student loan document to hit GOP: ‘Illiterate talking point in politics’

Prominent conservatives on Twitter have educated President Joe Biden after claiming that Republicans who received PPP loans for their businesses during the pandemic, and who now criticize his student loan, are hypocrites.

He called out Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and others by name for it during a speech Friday about his administration’s plan to provide student aid in Dover, Delaware.

Slamming GOP lawmakers who objected to the government’s huge document, he said, “I don’t want to hear about the MAGA Republicans, the officials who had hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, or even millions of dollars on pandemic relief loan, forgiven, who now attack me for helping working and middle class Americans.”

In a recent speech, President Biden called GOP lawmakers who took out PPP loans hypocrites for criticizing his student loan.

He then lashed out at Taylor Greene and other lawmakers saying, “Marjorie Taylor Greene, she got over it – she and her husband got $180,000 in canceled business loans under the program PPP. She said it was completely unfair for us to cancel student loans to work and middle-class Americans.”

He continued, “Rep. Vern Buchanan of Florida called our plan ‘reckless.’ Guess how much he got in that pardoned program? $2,300,000.” The crowd responded with boos, as Biden joked : “This is not a joke. I can’t make this stuff up.”

Biden also took aim Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in the speech, stating, “Ted Cruz, the great senator from Texas, he said it was for the ‘slacker’. Quote, ‘Slackers who don’t deserve relief.’ Who the hell do they think they are?

This isn’t the first time the Biden administration has lambasted these lawmakers. Last summer, the official White House Twitter account attacked several GOP politicians by name for their criticisms of his document and their past requests for PPP loans.

However, conservative critics claimed Biden’s talking point was “politically illiterate” and misguided.

Republican communications strategist Matt Whitlock blasted Biden’s comparison, tweeting, “Good reminder that Twitter is running this administration. It’s the dumbest, most illiterate talking point in politics, but they keep saying it because it has already received a lot of retweets.”

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton debunked the president’s argument, writing, “Fact check: false story and false comparison. PPP loan forgiveness was passed by Congress – the loans were designed to be forgiven. Biden has no legal/constitutional authority to spend hundreds of billions of dollars canceling student loans without congressional authorization.”

Conservative radio host Erick Erickson slammed Biden, saying: “Comparing PPP loans when the government forced people to close and businesses kept paying people’s salaries to student loans is ridiculous and puts people to shame. to have taken on the PPP when the government forced them to close is absurd.”

Radio talk show host Joe Pagliarulo commented, “#JoeBiden lied today trying to call out @RepMTG, @tedcruz and others. He failed miserably.”

Senator Cruz tore Biden to shreds, tweeting: ‘Incredible gall. Democrats kept America shut down and disintegrated small businesses and jobs for American workers…now he’s comparing the PPP loans people had to negotiate with these government loan forgiveness mandates he gave to his Ivy League slacker fringe liberal base to buy their votes.”
