BridgerttoNetflix’s first season landed on Netflix on Christmas Day 2020 and was immediately greeted with slight hysteria from audiences around the world. The Bodice Ripper has become the most popular Netflix series of all time, with the CEO of Netflix announcing that a record 82 million subscribers watched the program in its first month on the platform.

The music of Bridgerton has been talked about a lot, with Kris Bowers writing string quartet arrangements of pop songs by Taylor Swift and Shawn Mendes.

But what does the second series have in store for us?

Who wrote the soundtrack of Bridgerton?

American composer and pianist Kris Bowers was responsible for composing the first series of the Netflix show. He composed both the lush orchestral score and the pastiche arrangements for string quartet of modern pop songs, which have been performed by the Vitamin String Quartet.

Bowers has already composed music for film, television and video games. His best-known music is for the Oscar-winning film in 2018 Green book, inspired by a tour in the Great South by the African-American pianist Don Shirley and his driver. The film mixed Bowers’ original score with recordings by Shirley himself.

The score of the first series of Bridgerton was recorded remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic, with just eight musicians recording at home. These recordings were then layered to create a thick orchestral sound.

He wrote a theme for protagonist Daphne, which was then developed for the rest of the series. Much of the score is fairly minimalist, with simple strings and clean orchestrations, but when the drama intensifies – and a layer or two of clothing is ripped off – percussion is added and the upper ranges of the strings are added. used to create a bulking effect.

Bowers also wrote a common theme for the two protagonists, which is played out when they are together and in love. This is slowly introduced throughout the first few scenes of the series, as they get to know each other.

It has not yet been announced if Kris Bowers will return to mark the second season of Bridgerton.

What are the pop songs that are covered in season 1 of Bridgerton?

Kris Bowers’ witty arrangements for string quartet of pop songs have become an important part of the narrative, creating a conscious form of ironic pastiche.

The following tracks have been arranged for the show’s first season:

  1. thanks, next door (Ariana Grande)
  2. Girls Like You (Maroon 5)
  3. In my blood (Shawn Mendes)
  4. villain (Billie Eilish)
  5. Strange (Celestial)
  6. The Wildest Dreams (Taylor Swift)

What classical music pieces are featured in Bridgerton?

In addition to Kris Bowers’ original score for the show, there are also snippets of well-known pieces of music – most of which were written in very different time periods in history. Bridgerton is set.

Some of the classical music works presented in the program are:

  • Shostakovich’s Jazz Suite No.2
  • that of Offenbach The Tales of Hoffmann
  • Beethoven Symphony No.5
  • Beethoven’s Sonata “Waldstein”
  • Bach cello suite no.6, recomposed by Peter Gregson
  • The Four Seasons by Vivaldi, recomposed by Max Richter

What will season 2 of Bridgerton wear on?

The first series of Bridgerton centered on the love story between Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke of Hastings (played by René-Jean Page), but the sequel is likely to take a different direction, due to the fact that Ren- Jean Page announced his exit from the show.

Season 2 of Bridgerton instead will focus on Daphne’s brother, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) who sets out on his quest for love. The show’s first teasers suggest he might be about to embark on a (somewhat complicated) romance with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

Sharma’s family will also feature in the program, with Charithra Chandran as Edwina Sharma and Shelley Conn as Lady Mary Sharma.
