The Film Artist in Residence, based at the School of Film, Music and Theater, is designed to provide a film artist with a unique opportunity to develop their practice in an academic environment while providing film and media students the opportunity to engage with a practicing artist in a meaningful way during their studies.

The Arts Council and University College Cork invite distinguished film artists to apply for the role of Film Artist-in-Residence at UCC for the calendar year 2022.

The Film Artist in Residence, based at the School of Film, Music and Theater, is designed to provide a film artist with a unique opportunity to develop their practice in an academic environment while providing film and media students the opportunity to engage with a practicing artist in a meaningful way during their studies.

The Film Artist-in-Residence will be hired for the calendar year 2022 and will be located in the Film and Screen Media Department at UCC.

The residency will consist of two parts:

From January to June 2022, the film artist in residence will be supported to dialogue with students and staff. This engagement program will be designed by the film artist in residence, in consultation with the faculty of the university, and could include targeted postgraduate education, workshops, mentoring, public events or other activities. that bring new and unique energy to film and screen. media program. Contact time with students and staff during this period will be limited to four hours per week, and the resident film artist will not be required to deliver the core program.

From July to December, the film artist in residence will be supported to focus entirely on his own practice.

The fees of the film artist in residence amount to € 30,000, the Arts Council contributing € 20,000 and the university € 10,000. UCC will provide the film artist in residence with a dedicated space, where he can carry out his own creative practice, within the university. UCC will also support the residency administratively. The fees will be paid in two installments directly by the Arts Council, with a final report to be submitted by the film artist in residence at the end of the residency.
