Roger Taylor debuted at No.3 on the official UK albums chart with his new album Outsider.
The Queen The drummer’s sixth record became the highest solo record of his career and the first to make his Top 10 debut. He is behind The Script’s sixth No.1 record, Tales from the screenplay – The greatest hits, and The Specials cover album Protest songs 1924-2012, who debuted at No.2
Outsider is Taylor’s first solo album since 2013 Fun on earth. Much of it was recorded during the lockdown, with almost all of the instrumentation recorded by Taylor himself. Speaking of the record, he said, âI had a little creative push and suddenly I ended up with an album, which was lovely. It was a surprise! “
“I just found myself in the studio and [the songs] came out one after the other. It was really a pleasure. “
Taylor is currently on tour, playing intimate dates across the UK until October 22. These are his first live performances outside of Queen in over two decades. Performing songs from Queen’s vast catalog as well as his own solo material, Taylor is accompanied by a special group consisting of Queen and Adam Lambert keyboardist Spike Edney and drummer Tyler Warren, guitarist Jason Falloon and tour members from Goldfrapp Angie Pollock on keyboard and Charlie Jones on bass. Tickets for other tour dates can be purchased here.
Taylor will also be on tour starting late spring next year with the rest of Queen and her frequent live collaborator Adam Lambert. The group will perform 34 dates across the UK and Europe as part of the “Rhapsody” tour, which has been postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This will be the first time Taylor has performed on his own in more than 20 years. “I am delighted that we have just finished rehearsals here in the country in England,” he said ahead of the tour. “I am very excited,” he said News week. âI won’t say I’m not nervous, I haven’t been on stage solo for a long time and I can’t wait to be there. But we will see.
