The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau, iHeartMedia and Cat Country 107.1 will present “Songs of the sand” August 19 at 8 p.m. hosted by VCB Director of Communications Miriam Dotson.
Available through the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest Facebook page, Instagram and The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel YouTube channel, the virtual concert will feature acoustic music and conversation as Sheena Brook and Angie K tell their stories behind the songs. at the Pinchers at The Marina at Edison Ford in Fort Myers.
BMI singer-songwriter and Fort Myers Beach native Brook brought nationwide attention to NBC season 12 “The voice.” Since appearing on the show, she has worked with songwriters and multi-platinum artists to deepen her creativity in her style of artist and songwriter. The Island Hopper alum is also the founder of The FEM – Female Empowering Musicians – an organization that organizes events to empower women and provide an outlet for their own creativity.
Country artist born in El Salvador and raised in Georgia, BMI singer-songwriter Angie K has just released her new single, “Real conversation,” which was immediately added to mega-playlists “Wild country” and “New boots” on Spotify, as well as “Country of rupture” on Apple Music. In 2017, his Disney duo with Jordan Fisher, “Happy forever,” became the soundtrack of the Magic Kingdom night fireworks display. Angie K opened for Tanya Tucker, Trace Adkins, Melissa Etheridge and more.
Songs from the Sand is a preview of the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest, which runs September 17-26 in Captiva, historic downtown Fort Myers and on Fort Myers Beach. Songs from the Sand debuted in February and gives music lovers a chance to see the sights of Southwest Florida. Songs from the Sofa debuted in 2020.
